Coming back from a looong time hibernation.
I have been wasting my time watching the Idiot Box..I wish to leave that away and get back in to action.
Today at around 2 am it was raining at my place a suburb in Mumbai.I found it rather unusual and told my brother "Why is it raining at this time of the year,I have heard it rains in some parts of the world during this time but not in Mumbai".He told me "Don't you have any work,GO TO SLEEP.There is meteorological department to think about it".I wrapped myself in a thick bed sheet and dozed off to sleep in a sulky mood.
And around afternoon when news of Cyclone Phyan reached me I called up him and told "Didn't i tell you something unusual is on the way" in a alarming manner. The visions of July 26 became as fresh as if it happened just now.People started telling about Tsunami,Hurricane Katrina and all other major flood like scenario which have occurred during their lifetime. An added bonanza was the media channels competing with each other in the form of "BREAKING NEWS"leading to more panic among the people.
Our office announced at around 1.30 pm that people living far can leave for the day while others can stay back.I heaved a sigh of relief not thinking that I can reach home and be safe but with the thought that ill get a half day can watch movie etc etc.I left office in a hurry before the management changes their mind and reached station to see the platform crowded like hell.Railways had introduced couple of special trains so that the crowd can manage to get home without much hassles. But still people were restless and terrified.Every other person wanted to get in to the train and were crowding the doors like a swarm of bees to reach home as soon as possible.People were pushing and shoving each other recklessly.I wondered are some of the terrified looks real or hyperbole. And without a second though I also melted in to that crowd of people and got in to the train.
With some difficulty i reached home only to realise Cyclone Phyan was becoming harmless with every minute. Some news channels confirmed it has passed without any casualties. It made me to introspect my decision to follow the bunch of home goers. The pain which i took to reach home was it worth enough!!Of course who wont want to snuggle up in bed on such a cosy cool evening to watch movies or read a book...:) I wonder now whether half of the crowd was rushing to watch India v/s Australia match which was being played in the very much Cyclone Phyan Alert Mumbai region.:)
Cyclone - proposed more than a Threat...
Holding potential to set the whole of Mumbai Wet
On which my friend and I had a small Bet....
Now that I have Won... god knows what I m gonna Get....:):)
